New work glove from Guide borrows technology from golf

A premium glove from Guide is now being launched in the shops. The glove – Guide 5053 – uses an innovative technology with a pattern on the top of the hand that makes it fit extremely tightly against the hand - a pattern technology used for golf gloves.

- "The trend is towards increasingly discriminating use of work gloves. For professional users to choose a glove, it has to be flexible and comfortable to wear. It must on no account get in the way during work. We've taken this on board in developing our latest model of glove," says Åsa Lindberg-Svensson, product manager at Guide."

Guide is a brand within Skydda that develops work gloves for professionals on the European market. The new Guide 5053 model is chiefly aimed at craftsmen and people doing assembly and precision-engineering work who need sensitivity in their fingers.

The product is a thin leather glove made of soft and durable goat grain leather of the highest quality. A neoprene cuff fits tightly around the wrist, and the glove is fastened with Velcro. The material is moisture- and oil-resistant, and can be washed.

- The innovative technology, using a special pattern on the top of the hand, is used in golf gloves, which need to be very flexible. The pattern means that the glove fits tightly, and is like a second layer of skin on your hand. The glove is thin, and is suitable for both indoor and outdoor use in spring, summer and autumn. It is something of a 'deluxe' work glove. And the design is tough and attractive, with a modern pattern," says Åsa Lindberg-Svensson.

With more and more work gloves coming onto the market, use of gloves at the workplace has also increased.

- "We are seeing increased use, both in new professional groups and amongst people who used to find that work gloves restricted them in their work. We are seeing a huge increase in demand for our thin and flexible gloves, and people who used to use heavy work gloves are now switching to thinner ones."

Guide's thin work gloves have become an inexpensive alternative to far heavier gloves, provided you look after them.

- "There is now nothing to indicate that a heavier glove lasts longer than a thin one. With our advanced technologies we are now able to make really good, durable gloves without them being bulky," says Åsa Lindberg-Svensson.

Guide 5053 can be bought in traditional ironmongers, industrial suppliers and builders' merchants.
